    Story telling session-GradeI&II

Story telling is the oldest form of communication. It stimulates the imagination and builds a sense of community between tellers and listeners. We store the information in the brain in the form of stories. A good and well-presented story is successful in reaching its objective and remembered long after over others.
As a part of Library week plan, a storytelling session was conducted for the students of grade I & II on 27th November, 2017. The narrator, Ms. Darshana Radhakrishnan shared two interesting stories with our students. She narrated a scary story first followed by a funny one. The children attentively listened to both the stories narrated and enjoyed the show very much.
The media-soaked environment of today is what greets children as soon as they come into the world. Listening to stories enhances a child's vocabulary as they will be curious about some words and want to know the meanings of the ones he cannot understand. When a habit of listening to stories is inculcated in them, they learn to become better listeners. It provides them the necessary training to listen and understand more, instead of talking.
