IK’s - SaPa workshop
“Music is the lens through which we view culture.” -Bindu Subramaniam, Dean, SaPa
SaPa, the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts was founded by India’s leading violinist composer Dr. L. Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam. SAPA in Schools syllabus is distinct from the rigorous syllabus taught at the Academy and is designed to interest students in classical music. The SaPa Method highlights the importance of teaching children face to face, and provides activity based learning within a classroom environment.
On 23rd January 2018, the children of IKs had their Workshop on Global Rhythms by SAPA. It was an exploration of music narrated by Karthik Mani the son of Legendary TAS Mani and RA Ramamani.
During the workshop they played different instruments and the children were also exposed to instruments such as Guitar. They also demonstrated how to play different instruments. They displayed different styles such as jazz, rock, fusion, Afrocuban, Turkish, Flamenco, Carnatic, folk, Hindustani and many more. All the children of IK’s had a great day and enjoyed the programme a lot. It was a fun filled day.
