IK's SaPa Workshop

SaPa, the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts was founded by India’s leading violinist composer Dr. L. Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam.

SAPA in Schools syllabus is distinct from the rigorous syllabus taught at the Academy and is designed to interest students in classical music, present performances, develop music appreciation and create a strong foundation.

“Music is the lens through which we view culture.” – Bindu Subramaniam, Dean, SaPa

On 8th September 2017, the children of IK’s had their SAPA workshop. Our workshop in association with SAPA was an exploration of music narrated by Harpreet Bansal (a Norwegian/Indian violinist and composer from Oslo), Vojtech Prochazka (a Piano player, composer and improviser from Prague, Czech Republic), Adrian Myhr (a Bass player from Trondheim, currently living in Oslo) and Sanskriti Shrestha (the foremost young female Tabla player in Nepal).

During the workshop they played different instruments and the children were also exposed to instruments such as Tabla, Bass, Violin, Piano etc, they also demonstrated how to play different instruments.

All the children of IK’s had a great day and enjoyed a lot. It was a fun filled day.
