Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children. – Alex Haley
On a beautiful morning of September 2017, Edify witnessed yet another beautiful event of this academic year with Grandparents to celebrate Grandparent’s Day. On 16 September 2017, our school celebrated Grandparent’s Day with lot of zeal and enthusiasm. It was a special day for all those who attended the programme and for us, as it gave us a chance to interact with them which gave us immense pleasure.
Grandparents hold a special place in our hearts and lives, which no one else can take. They also advise us and show us the right ways. They play an imperative role in the life of every child. They are a big support to their grandchildren and they pamper children more than the parents themselves and leave a lasting impression in child’s life. So it’s time to remember the selfless love and care grandparents shower upon their grandchildren, the service they do towards family and on a larger aspect towards the society. We took this opportunity to honour the grandparents and show them reverence.
Ms. Kokil, Ms. Sangamitra and Ms.Kalyani welcomed Grandparents in three different language i.e English, Hindi and Kannada respectively. Children presented a melodious shloka after which Ms. Daisy Bastain, Headmistress, addressed the gathering.
During Skill flaunt event, Grandparents openly and enthusiastically showcased their skills of songs and poems and mesmerised the audience. Next program was the treat to eyes with wonderful dance performance by Edify school teachers.
Grandparents, parents and children were seen enjoying in food stalls and game stalls, which were arranged by Edify School facilitators. It was a feast to see tiny tots holding grandparents’ hands and beaming with big smile.
Drawing competition was specially organized for Grandparents and Parents on the topic Swachcha Bharath with the time limit 45 minutes. Colourful sketches with remarkable presentations gave Ms. Niti Mahendra, Director and Daisy Bastain Headmistress, hard time to decide the winner as they were the judges for the competition. Winners were honoured with gifts by Ms. Niti Mahendra, Director. Program concluded with Vote of thanks by Ms. Richa and Ms. Vidyavati, which was followed by national anthem.
