A session on the need to refurbish our IT resources as a step towards reducing E-Wastes and lessening our carbon footprint was held on 17th June, 2017 for the students from grade IX-X. The session began with the resource person explaining the various kinds of E- Wastes generated by our generation. He explained that 373 Kg of carbon dioxide will be released into our atmosphere with the production of each laptop. The students were able to understand the gravity of the situation and the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by them unknowingly though.

Students were also given an opportunity to inspect themselves various parts of a computer like motherboard, hard disk, battery, ram etc. The students were told how to identify the faults in the system by using PC Doctor. They helped the group of 7 students to completely open the laptop, identify each part by themselves and also reassemble everything after that. The process of refurbishing was effectively conveyed by this method.

Students gained knowledge about various parts present inside the laptop which they use extensively. Also they leant about the value and the need to reduce their carbon footprint by reducing their E-Waste or by refurbishing their existing IT goods. Master Luchingba rendered vote of thanks by making a promise on behalf of all the students present that they would take proper measures reduce their carbon footprints in all ways possible.
